Mari Mizutani (B.A., M.M), holds degrees from California Polytechnic University, San Luis
Obispo, and the University of New Mexico. She has studied violin under Leonard Felberg,
Michael Nowak, and Sharon Holland. She has performed with San Luis Obispo
Symphony, SLO Baroque Festival Orchestra, Santa Fe Symphony, San Juan Symphony,
Western New York Chamber Orchestra, and several other symphony orchestras and
chamber ensembles in the Southwest, Northeast, and West. She has also appeared
with celebrities such as, The Three Irish Tenors, Peabo Bryson, Suzanne Somers, Peter
Cetera, Smokey Robinson, and Clay Aiken. Recently, she can be seen as the
concertmaster in the PBS special, "Michael Londra: Beyond Celtic!" Locally, she has
worked with Performance Riverside, Redlands Civic Light Opera, Redlands Bowl and the
Cabaret All Star Orchestra. She lives in Redlands with her husband, Mark McConnell and
their three children.
Mark Dennis McConnell (B.A., M.M), holds degrees from the University of Northern
Colorado and the University of New Mexico. He studied composition under William Wood
and Erik Ona, and double bass under James D. Vaughn and Mark Tatum. In 2005, he
was a featured composer in the University of New Mexico's Composers Symposium. He
has performed with Performance Riverside, COD, Redlands Bowl Summer Musical,
OnStage Musicals, Slee Sinfonietta, Santa Fe Symphony, San Juan Symphony, Roswell
Symphony, ACLOA, June in Buffalo, and Western New York Chamber Orchestra.
McConnell has had his compositions performed throughout the US by the Society for
New Music (New York), the Colorado State University Arts Symposium, the Midwest
Graduate Music Conference (Madison, WI), the SUNY-Buffalo New Composers Series,
on KUNM radio (Albuquerque, NM), and by the Crafton Contemporary Ensemble in
Southern California. In 2000, McConnell received the Brian M. Israel prize in composition.
McConnell is Professor of Music at Crafton Hills College in Southern California, where he
directs the Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and Contemporary Ensemble.
Recently, he can be seen as the bass player in the PBS special, "Michael Londra: Beyond
Celtic!" McConnell lives in Redlands, California with his wife Mari Mizutani and his three
children.
Teresa DiPietro began playing the cello at the age of seven and studied with John Walz
and Eleanor Schoenfeld. Teresa pursued her love for both chamber and symphonic
music as a student at California State University, Los Angeles and the University of
Southern California School of Music and Arts. She currently serves as principal cellist for
the Loma Linda University Church Symphony, The Coachella Valley Symphony and the
Mount San Jacinto University Symphony. In addition to chamber and symphonic work, she
enjoys playing big band music as the cellist for the All Star Cabaret Orchestra and “pit”
playing for several civic light opera groups. Teresa can also be heard in several
recordings, notably with Barry Manilow and several notable local professional
musicians. Recently, she can be seen as a cellist in the PBS special, "Michael Londra:
Beyond Celtic!"She lives in Hemet, California with her husband Pete, daughter Madi and
son Peter.
