Who We Are:
Otherwise Jazz is a Southern California Jazz combo founded by bassist Mark Dennis
McConnell. Otherwise Jazz is a flexible group-we perform as a bass and guitar duo, a
trio, a quartet, a vocal combo, and a small big band. We will cater the ensemble and the
repertoire to fit what you are looking for. We perform instrumental and vocal Jazz in all
styles, and typically play cocktail hours,banquets, openings, parties, art shows,
weddings, and private events.
In addition to numerous private events, Otherwise Jazz has performed at restaurants in
the Redlands area, on the Crafton Hills College campus for the music program and art
program, and at a California Community Colleges Student Financial Aid Administrators
Association conference.
We are not is a DJ service or an emcee (MC), but we work with many fantastic DJs in
Southern California and can help you with referrals of people that we work well with.
Mark Dennis McConnell heads the music program at Crafton Hills College in Southern
California. He has worked in master classes with artists like Dave Brubeck and Paul
Winter, and he has performed with Performance Riverside, Legends of Swing, Peter
Cetera of Chicago and Jon Peter Lewis of American Idol.
